Preface
Unlike the other pages on this site, I'm writing my little bio page in the first person. I know most professional artists' pages only refer to the artist in the third person, thus building the artist's mystique or grandure or whatever. But I wrote this page and I can't write about myself in the third-person without feeling like an ass, so I'm doing it in the first-person. I assure you that I'm still a legitimate, hard-working, and brilliant artist despite this little slip of tradition. What is "VaMir Arts"?
Growing up I could never settle on a person to look up to as a hero. For whatever reason everyone fell short of my ideals. Sports stars and celebrities are too narsicistic and greedy. Politicians are full of shit. Scientists are too boring (with the exception of Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson). Artists are insecure children competing for attention. And I fought and disagreed with my parents too much to worship them. I came to the conculsion that real people could never be anything but people and thus in childhood I imagined my own hero to admire. In high school I developed a fictional character named “VaMir” that embodied all the characteristics I felt a good person should have. I wrote several little novels and like most teenagers, I never finished any of them. But I still keep the idea of "VaMir" alive as an abstract ideal to strive for in my studies, art practice, and every day life.A Special Thanks
Without the support and encouragement of my friends, my family, and especially my teachers I doubt I would have had the courage to enter a field as under-appreciated, misunderstood, and fulfilling as art. Thank you for being there for me.eMail: TheVagrantMind@hotmail.com
